Artist Bio:
John Fathom’s Illuminated Painting Sculptures.
“My paintings are meant to hijack your imagination. Some of what you see is intended while other elements are clearly figments of your own thoughts and psychology, bridging the gap between the artist and the observer”
Fusing discarded and distressed materials with a modern take on Stained Glass, my Illuminated Painting Sculptures aim to steal your gaze just long enough to take your subconscious on a journey through the twists and turns of paint and metamorphosis of color. The intention is to accent a dimlit environment by treating each of the pieces more like a portal into a frozen time space rather then a painting on a wall, by drawing references to celestial objects, underwater creatures and aspects of micro-biology. Although the pieces can be boxed and framed in a variety of materials, I primarily work with recovered woods and parts to accent the sense that although each work is clearly unusual and strangely ornate, it may have been created in another time. When new woods are used they are intentionally distressed to pay homage to the character that the wood takes on over time.
Tiered Pricing-
Each painting is marked with a pricing that reflects the 3 levels of purchase a collector can choose from;
Options-
A. - This is for collectors whom prefer the piece as is.
L.E.D- this is for collectors whom would like the piece to remain aesthetically the same, but would like to change the lighting to adjustable L.E.D lighting. A deposit is required for 65% of the price and the work can be picked up within 30days of deposit so that necessary adjustments to the boxing and lighting can be made.
B. CUSTOM- This option can apply to a currently unframed painting or a completely custom request. Paintings that are unframed can be requested to be framed in a sleak modern style or the distressed style typical of my work. Paintings can be framed and illuminated in nearly any manner and material from tubular steel, angle iron, wood or even the inside of a acoustic guitar or the top of a coffeetable. The limit is on your imagination.
Custom furniture with or without an illuminated painting is also available.
